Quick and Easy Homemade Laundry Detergent!

Making swaps to homemade isn't always the easiest, however, this simple and quick laundry detergent is one of the best swaps we have ever made! You can make it in 30 minutes or less and it will literally last for months! Farm work and chores causes our clothes to get pretty dirty and honestly I didn't know at first if something without chemicals would be up for the challenge. Grass stains, mud, you name it, it's most likely on our clothes! This recipe has became my saving grace! And saving my wallet too! Give this recipe a try and you will not be sorry!!

What you will need:

A 5 gallon bucket with lid

1 laundry soap bar

1 cup Washing Soda

Essentials Oils (Optional)

Cheese grater

Saucepan

Water (To finish filling your bucket)

How to:

  1. First thing you want to do is grate your laundry soap bar into your saucepan. You want the whole bar grated, just be careful when you get to the end and watch your fingers. Add a little water to the saucepan and put on the stove on med-high heat. You want the laundry soap to be completely melted.
  2. While that is heating up. Take your 5 gallon bucket and fill it about half full with hot water. While it is filling up go ahead and add your one cup of washing soda and stir it in.
  3. Once the laundry soap is melted completely, pour the mixture of soap and water into the 5 gallon bucket and stir it up.
  4. Now you can fill the rest of the bucket with warm water. Leaving about 3-5 inches from the top. While it is filling up this is when you add essential oils of your choice. Completely optional. I usually use about 30 drops of oil. But again that's up to you! Play with it and have fun! Stir it all up and put the top on it. Tuck it away somewhere. Allowing it to "rest" for 24-48 hours.
  5. Once the rest time is complete. Take the top off your bucket and begin to message the laundry detergent. (Kids love this part and it's completely safe for their little hands) It should be thick and gooey. While your messaging it, it will turn more liquid. This is when you can put it in your container of your choice for your laundry room. And you did it!
  6. Please remember that as the detergent sits. It will thicken up again and it's always good to shaking your container before each use. As well as, stir the bucket when it's time to refill your container!

There you have it! Homemade simple and quick laundry detergent!!
